Murray secures Qualification for Paris 2024 after victory in Mexico
“Paris, here we come!” Richard Murray is ecstatic after qualifying for Paris 2024. BMC triathlete Richard Murray won the Olympic discipline in Mexico, ultimately securing his spot on the Dutch national team.
“The race went perfectly to plan,” Murray reflected on his performance after the finish. “I had the best swim in ages, maybe only 10-15 seconds off. During the biking, I stayed in the group with my fellow countryman Mitch Kolkman. On the run, I went out hard and controlled the gap to second, and then took the win!”
“Old dogs can still bark,” the Dutchman laughed after the finish. “Not only me, but everyone from the Dutch team is now qualified for Paris 2024, which is a fantastic result, particularly considering our great mixed relay performance from last week too.”
And there is more good news. Murray, who BMC tuned in with before his crucial month of May, will be getting his Dutch passport in three weeks. So there is nothing holding him back anymore from traveling to Paris and representing the Netherlands and BMC on the course there.
