Team BMC in Val di Sole: Sarrou consistent, U23s continue making progress
It was two action-packed days in the Italian Alps. On Friday, all the XCC races were listed on the program, and on Sunday, all the XCO races took place.
The battle for front-row starts was won by Jordan Sarrou. It is something one gets used to quickly, even though one shouldn’t: the French Team BMC rider finished seventh after a strong race.
After that privileged position on the starting grid and a brilliant start, the French champion was in the mix for the podium throughout the race. In the last laps, the race unfolded not quite as much in his favor as hoped, resulting in a ninth-place finish, a result that did not leave him disappointed. “I am quite happy with this result,” Sarrou said.
Juri Zanotti finished 44th in his ‘home World Cup,’ while Titouan Carod crossed the line in 61st.
In the early evening, the two U23 riders of Team BMC continued where they left off in Engelberg last weekend: showing progression. Baumann finished in the top 20, while L’Homme showed grit with 14th.
The World Cup season is in full swing and continues already next week in Crans Montana, one of the major goals of Team BMC.
